The impressive city of Bautzen is within an hour's train ride of Dresden. On a rock plateau, rising high above the Spree river, defiant battlements and the 17 towers and bastions of Bautzen create one of the most typical medieval townscapes. Visit the historic capital of Upper Lusatia, renowned for its Sorbian folk culture, and ascent one of its towers. Other attractions include Ortenburg Castle, eight museums, Baroque buildings and the Dinosaur Park.
